A Clay Project: Girl ' s face

Here’s my first project using Clayzee polymer clay. This is not an airdry clay, but this one is still unbaked. I still have to wait for my nephew who kept his clay project, because it’s actually a secret… shhh… the name of his crush was stamped on it. LOL… Perhaps tomorrow will be a perfect time for us to bake it since it’s Saturday.

I actually do not know how long should I bake this since there’s no instruction in the packaging of the clay. If you have any idea, please drop a comment, I will really appreciate it.

Two of my nieces was with me when I made this. And they kept on arguing on what letter should I put. Since they both have the same initials I decided to put the VP; as Vanessa Pearl or Venus Pearl. And they both agree with me! (*_*)

Do you have any idea where I can link this for brown? I stumbled once but I forgot the site….

Dish Garden for Mama

Mama asked me to make a dish garden as my gift for her on Mother’s Day (hehe.. this is super late post). She had several cute plants from her colleague who is considered as master in dish garden…. I’m intrigue how his garden looks like, with all the teeny-meeny-miny plants.

I decided to make a park-theme dish garden.

To compliment with the theme I made a bench out from Makin’s Air Dry Clay; combining two colors to achieve a different shade. I used the bronze bead wire as nails. I made the bench 3 days before Mother’s Day, since I still have to let it dry.

Mama was surprised with the outcome. She totally loves it!

There should be a lamp. But I was running out of time when I made it. Maybe I’ll install the lamp later or perhaps I’ll make another theme park dish garden…

The bracelet. …Got this idea from Show Tell Share Blog through Totally Tutorial.

The set is actually compose of bracelet, pair of earrings and a ring…

But look at my ring? It’s an air dry clay! NOT a food! I already had an idea who's responsible for this… the COCKROACH…

For the sake of pictorial I removed the rose in the bracelet and glue gun in a ring… I HEART the ring…

Makin’s Air dry Clay

This clay is sitting for more than a year. I haven’t touched it because it’s air-dry clay. I know it would be difficult to knead once it’s open. Until recently I found Miss Polyclay’s blog and I was inspired with her Secret Garden Key. It’s beautiful! I actually bought key trinkets but for now I only made the roses in different sizes. I have different ideas for the roses, a jewelry set perhaps.

I saw a bracelet accented with beautiful clay rose featured in Totally Tutorial, the Show Tell Share blog. I made a similar project which I will post later. Actually it’s finished but I need some adjustment; it’s quiet big for my wrist.

I love this clay heart idea. Supposed to be the posting of the project comes after “B is for Heart Box”. But the jewelry heart box shape, which I planned to use for cutting heart shape, was missing. So the project was delayed. Good thing I found a heart shape perfume bottle cap last night.

Roses are Red

I’ve been eyeing this set of ladies accessories in the magazine about bead jewelries/accessories I bought a year ago. I just love its sophisticated design. I was looking in the craft store in our area and in the city for the bead rose but to my dismayed it’s not available.

So when I discovered polymer clay, first thing that crossed in my mind was to make a bead rose. With the help of video tutorial from youtube, I was able to make my own roses. Actually it’s easy but I have problem with conditioning the clay. I think it’s getting harder because it’s already expose. I’m using the Makin’s Air Dry Clay…. Anyway this is a sort of practice. Later when I will get this seriously, I mean into clay business, then I will use the polymer clay used by the professional clay artist.

First Project: Simple Name Tag

I haven’t started a clay project; I haven’t even touched clay with my bare hand. I’m afraid I won’t be able to maximize it and will just harden because the first set of clay I bought are air dry from Makin’s Clay.

I wanted to wait for my tools to at least be completed first before I start a project. But I couldn’t wait... seeing my stock of clays made my hand itchy. So I grabbed one packed of clay and cut its lid. Just imagine a child who wanted badly a new doll or a chocolate with the eyes gleaming and widely open… That’s how I reacted… with hard beat pounding in my chest… perhaps too excited to do my first project. LOL…

I hate its sour smell. Yet it did not thwart me from doing my first project… my imagination get wild…. But to my disappointment I found out that the clay was hard to condition. I was rolling, twisting, flatten the clay… Not satisfied with my output I did the same procedure for several times. And I honestly started to hate the clay. My hands are sweating and the more I had a hard time conditioning the clay.

I almost gave up yet I continued doing with my first project because I don’t want to waste my effort, time and of course the money. So I decided to make a very simple project instead… a very simple name tag… Simple yet I adore it…

Indulging Myself with Clays… Lots of Clays

Hi!!!

It’s been a while since my last post… and I’m a little guilty about it. LOL… Anyway, here’s just a little update of me and my crafting passion.

Last June I withdrew my online earnings from paypal because I badly needed the money. I also promised to myself about buying something worth remembering everytime I withdraw from my earnings.

I only withdraw $100, it’s about Php 4,500. Out from that amount I budgeted Php 1,000 - a gift for myself. You know it’s important to once in a while recognize our efforts and reward ourself. Buy things that could make you happy… lavish yourself with things that you love most…shop, drink, partying, eat, travel… or just a simple self appreciation will do. So guys, as you read this, pause for a while and pat yourself and say, “You did a great job…”

How did you feel right now? Happy? or naaaahhh!!!! LOL…

What I bought from my earnings is something that I really longed to have. I think you can easily guess it… yes, it’s for crafting…

I mentioned here many times about my interest in claying… yet until now I haven’t started a project. Tools are quiet expensive. siiigghh… Though I haven’t receive the money yet, I’ve been eyeing this letter stamp from claymatters. and as soon as I receive the money I immediately ordered the stamp and I can’t help my self ordering other metal findings and clays… As I said lavish yourself… LOL…

Finally My Order Arrived

It was already more than a month since I keep on visiting the websites of erosejazz, thesculpeyman, and gingerbeadworks – it’s because of one reason - I fell in love with clay arts. I attempted to purchase clays the moment I saw erosejazz clay works. I thought it was an ordinary clay that can be bought in the local market. I even bought one thinking that it will harden when bake. LOL….

Through erosejazz’s online store I discover both the Sculpey and Makin’s clay. I purchase the latter since it’s a no bake clay. I want to try the Sculpey clays, maybe next time when I mastered this clay arts.

Second Session

After attending mass my nieces went straight to our house and found the clay art that we made yesterday. They got angry with me because I did not wait for them. And I just keep on laughing on them. LOL…. (I love to tease them).

Good thing there is still clay left…. The bad thing is that the colors were all mixed up. But at least they still enjoyed the activity. 

They formed the clay into words…. Actually it's a simple message for my sister Jeia (Jean)  who’s in Canada…. The kids miss her so much….

Clay Arts with Niece Yang

This weekend is the best ever since June (2009)… I’m just staying at home relaxing. But the best thing about this weekend is I have the chance bonding with my nieces. At least I can now start my session on my art classes with them.

However 3 of my five nieces joined the girl scout rally and the other one had lost interest in art because she prefers riding her bicycle. I’m about to postpone the art session but my 6 year old niece (youngest of the five) begged me to teach her with clay arts.

Of course I cannot say no this cute little girl.

At first I showed her how to make ladybug. (It’s not really perfect but I love it… LOL). Then I also made letters and formed them into my niece’s nickname - “yang.”

My niece tried to form a ladybug but she found it hard to do. So instead I taught her to make a rose. And I was really amazed with her output. Her blue roses even looks perfect than what I have done. LOL…

Practice

Due to financial constraints I was not able to purchase the polymer clay which excites me for almost a month. Actually I keep on visiting the online store of Makin’s Clay here in the Philippines, hoping that someday I’ll buy this sticky thing and form into something adorable memorabilia.

I was inspired by erosejazz clay creation which was featured in “Kabuhayang Swak na Swak!” Which was aired last October 11, 2009.

Through her online store I learned about the Makin’s no bake clay through Ginger's Beadworks; it’s another online store. (well erosejazz is using Sculpey that needs to be baked). Which I also wanted to try (if I have my own oven).

Since then it became part of my morning routine peeking on this Makin’s Clay Online store or sometimes thesculpeyman online store.

So for the meantime I use this modeling clay bought at National Bookstore. First thing that comes in my mind is to make a 1 cm wide sunflower and a rose. But I decided to make the latter.

Whew! I thought it’s easy. The clay is so sticky and it’s hard to form into petals because it sags. Anyway here’s my output. It’s not bad after all. What do you think?
