One Morning....

I was strolling one sunny morning in our backyard and found this cute bundle of red flowers. Truly Philippines, especially Davao, is so blessed with good climate that we’re able to enjoy the beauty of foliage all year round.

Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844~

Green & Ripe

This photo was taken at our backyard. Actually it's a pea size fruit of a plant (which I forgot to ask my mother).

I love the thought of opposite things can be group as one to form a wonderful piece of art - RIPE AND GREEN!!!

Silver Linings

Happiness in our life is coupled with problem. I do not know someone who says he has no problem; because all of us had encountered adversities in life. We only differ on how we deal with it. Either we look at it as burden or its part of life and believe that it has a solution. We call the latter as optimism.

Optimistic people embrace to the old adage, “Behind the clouds the sun is still shining.” They see problem as a challenge and believes that it will just pass by and radiance of happiness will soon replace.

Be an optimistic! Always look on the bright side – look at the silver linings!

Artworks at Cara's

Cara’s is neither a theater nor a gallery, it’s a restaurant named after the daughter of the owner. I should say it’s one of the best restaurants in Panabo City. Aside from the mouthwatering foods they serve, Cara’s is also known of their relaxing ambience and a touch of stylishness and elegance.

We were invited to attend a surprise birthday bash for my cousin that’s why I had the opportunity to get some pictures inside the restaurant.

Follow the Leader

I’m observing this flock of ducks in our farm. Wherever they go they always follow a leader. My niece was chasing after them and even though they break away from the line they always go back and follow the same path.

The Moon (part 2???)

Another picture of moon?

Well I’m trying to capture someone.

Wanna know who it is?

(LOL …..)

Someone who has crumbled hair,

pointed nose,

pointed chin like a quarter moon,

wearing all black with a pointed hat,

and riding on a broom

with the moon as its background.

Get it?

(LOL…)

Yes, a witch!!!!

(LOL…)

Nope I’m just joking.

I just love the moon,

Standing still on a silence milieu.

.

.

Soon as the evening shades prevail,

The moon takes up the wondrous tale,

And nightly to the listening earth Repeats the story of her birth.

Joseph Addison

The moon is at her full, and riding high,

Floods the calm fields with light.

The airs that hover in the summer sky Are all asleep to-night.

The Moon

This picture is taken last June 6.
.
.
A moon reminds me of my nephew, Jay, who was eagerly reciting a poem about the moon.
He was three years old then.

The Moon

Look et [at] the moon
Shining up there
Oh! Mother, It looks like
a lamp in the air.

The Old Gimelena Tree

2009 – It’s been a decade since we graduated from high school at Don Manuel A. Javellana Memorial National High School. So to celebrate our 10th year reunion we decided to hold it at our Alma matter. It was really a great experience. It reminds us of good memories and even bad memoirs, a common experience which I think help us grow and keep us reunited after so many years. Each one of us has its own recollection of our high school lives. Like the Gimelena tree in the picture has its own stories to tell.

For more than a decade, I’m wondering how many students had passed by in this tree? How many lovers dare to sit in between of its branches sharing what love means to them? How many laughter and secrets do this tree heard? How many students expressed their anger to this tree? Perhaps the poor tree experienced a lot of beating and hardship. But despite of that the tree grows old more beautiful than ever. Look at it!!!

Like our relationship with our batch mates as years passed by, maybe we grew older by age and physical appearances but our memories are still young like when we were once strangers to the place and to each other more than 10 years ago. Like the old Gimelena tree our relationship rooted and even grew deeper and more wonderful than ever.

Sunset

I love this sunset picture. This is taken at Camiguen Island during the Boys Scout Encampment. I just copied this picture from a colleague .

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of exiles.

Emma Lazarus

When I admire the wonder of a sunset or the beauty of the moon,

my soul expands in worship of the Creator.

Indira Gandhi (1917 - 1984)

How fine has the day been! how bright was the sun, How lovely and joyful the course that he run! Though he rose in a mist when his race he begun, And there followed some droppings of rain: But now the fair traveller's come to the west, His rays are all gold, and his beauties are best; He paints the skies gay as he sinks to his rest, And foretells a bright rising again.

Isaac Watts

The sky broke like an egg into full sunset and the water caught fire.

-Pamela Hansford Johnson

"Every time you wake up and ask yourself, "What good things am I going to do today?", remember that when the sun goes down at sunset, it will take a part of your life with it."

The Beauty of Saging-Saging

Birds of Paradise, also known as Crane flowers are one of the most beautiful Exotic Flowers. The flowers of the Birds of Paradise resemble a brightly colored bird in flight and so the name Birds of Paradise. It is called saging-saging (from the word saging meaning banana) in our dialect perhaps because it's foliage resembles small banana leaves with long petioles.

Birds of Paradise is known to be a designer's favorite. I myself love to decorate this flower in our house because it adds color to our living room and has a touch of class. There at least 10 varieties of Birds of Paradise  in our backyard.

This is its first bloom.

I love the color of this variety.

It's the same  variety with the yellow color (above).

This variety  will only bear flowers once a year,

between the month of March and May. This is actually the last flower.
