Recycled Notebook

I used recycled notebooks during my high school days. Not that my parents can’t afford, I just opted to used recycled notebook.

My sister, a preschool teacher then, had many used workbooks with no prints at the back of each page. So what I did, I cut the workbooks crosswise, covered with newspaper or old magazine.

I’m not bothered using the recycled notebook. My teachers even appreciated it. If only I knew back then that there’s blogging, then I probably take a pic of it. LOL

Classes had just started. I’m encouraging my nieces to use recycled notebooks. But they hate my idea…. not until they saw my output

So here’s what I did……

Goldilocks Box for the cover:

Not that I’m a big fan of Goldilocks. It’s just that the cakes we usually order are Goldilocks.

Look at the square hole in the middle. I have a pretty idea for this.

At the back of the box, the figure says “RECYCLE

Few scratch papers from our office

Size is A4 so I cut into half

And come up with these beautiful recycled notebooks.

I purposely save the hole for the front cover of notebook, so that kids can insert picture.

My niece love it…. and plan to insert Justin Beiber’s pic…. I honestly hate her idea… LOL

Tubular Box

Goldilocks Cake Box I made another use of the cake boxes. I saw a tubular box pattern in a craft book. Trace it and viola! A tubular box out of cake boxes.

This is ideal wrap for a small gift. Just add embellishment to add beauty on the tubular box….

Gift’s for Moms

My 11 Year old niece made bracelets for her tita’s and Nanay (her grandma) as her gifts for the Mothers’ day. She used the artificial stones that were stored and untouched for more than two years since my sister went abroad.

Venus Bracelet

I’m happy because she reused the cake boxes as bracelet holder/tag/card.

Filer Makeover

So what’s my first project on reusing the Goldilocks’ Cake Boxes?

Cake Boxes

Hmmm.. I can use this square-rounded corner hole with acetate on it as a frame for scrapbooking. What do you think?

Frame from GB Peek-a-boo

Meantime, I refurbish my yellow filer, which actually has no use at all because it’s not strong enough to hold the bulk of my files. I think because it’s made of corrugated cardboard.

Organizer Organizer2

So what I did is cover the outside of the filer with the Goldilocks’ Cake Box, which is a thin cardboard. I cannot use the glue because the wrong side of the box is glossy so I used double sided tape instead.

Here’s the new look of my filer – STURDIER ONE!

Mom’s Poor Purse….

Here’s another rotten thing that supposed to be thrown. LOL… But I opt to throw it inside my scrap box…

Bronze Purse

It’s is my mother’s purse. It’s actually golden, or I supposed its a bronze purse. As you can see there’s no use of this purse at all. It’s worn out.

Look closely….. Poor purse…

Poor Clutch

Fabric is no use at all… So i cut it and… uhm throw it….

Away fabric

And the metal (LOL.. I don’t know what to call this…) will be saved for future project…

Metal(sorry… the stripe fabric is a sore in the eyes.. I didn’t realize it….)

For The Love of Scraps

…. and the love of our mother earth…..

I don’t usually throw things because I know I can find ways of reusing them. Besides, in this small way at least I can contribute in reducing garbage. I can use this for crafting. I believe I don’t need to buy new things to create something awesome project.

Here’s a box of scraps which contains used bond paper and tissue-core-cardboards too…

Scrap Box

And a pile of cake boxes… These are Goldilocks' cake boxes. I love the design and the prints of the box. Actually I already made two projects out of these cute boxes. I will post it later… so stay tune…. *wink*

Christmas Card

While cleaning the cabinet in our library, I found this Christmas card I made during my first year in college, way back 1999. It’s made up of indigenous materials, such as shells, sinamay, dried flower and dried corn leaf. I added ribbons to enhance its beauty. I found it cute, that I opt of keeping instead of giving it. LOL…

Though colors fade already, I still adore it.

Piggy-Bank-Which-Is-Not-Really-A-Pig

My piggy bank… but it’s not a pig! Yup! You’re right…. I don’t know the right term, so I will call it piggy-bank-which-is-not-really-a-pig (LOL). Anyway it has the same purpose – SAVING MONEY!!!!

The head is actually a coconut shell. The coconut plant, about 2 feet high, was uprooted. According to my father, it’s easier to get the flesh inside the coconut when it was already growing since its flesh is already dry.
.

This is my first attempt to beautify the coconut shell. And I find it very bland.
.

So I decided to add some decorations. One thing that is lacking is its stand.

My sister suggested putting it on a jar, and turning the shell into upside down, so that the coconut shell will look like a head with an eye and mouth on it. So to maintain the ethnicity of my piggy-bank-which-is-not-really-a-pig, I rapped the body with an abacca rope.
And… wow I love it!!!!
.
.

Anyway, do you have any suggestion to rename my piggy-bank-which-is-not-really-a-pig? Feel free to leave comments.

Message in a Bottle

Who have thought that empty bottles could turn into something unique craft?

This craft is a wedding give a way, specially made by the couple themselves. I was really impressed of the creativeness done to the bottle. Lately I’ve been thinking of what to do with the empty wine bottles since we cannot sell it. Actually, I have lots of ideas back in my mind, including flower vase. It’s actually included on my To-do-list.

Back in my college days I also did a craft similar to this one. I’m using a plastic bottle and painted it with orange. But the output is not as good as this one. I promise, one of these days, I’m gonna make a craft similar to it. I’m still trying to figure out how they did it.

Perhaps, I’ll add it to my To-do List.

 A closer look

So what’s the message in the bottle?

In a simple little way we can contribute on how to save earth. Like what I said in my previous post, Bead Organizer, always think twice before you throw scraps. There are lots of things you can do on it. Just explore the creativity in your mind. And I’m pretty sure you’ll discover ideas beyond your imagination.

Ribbon Bulletin Board

I saw this craft at Art Angel, a program of one network station in Philippines - GMA. I was inspired to make one.  I love the craft idea and since there are ribbons from the corsage, wedding invitations and gifts we received so I just reuse it and made a wonderful bulletin board out of it.

Black frame bought at EPZA, Rosario Cavite during Christmas Bazaare 2006. At Art Angel, they were using cardboard to make the frame.

I installed it inside my cabinet at the back of the [cabinet] door. This actually my Goal Bulletin Board. I’m posting some pictures and statements that will remind me of my goals and dreams in life.

Bead Organizer

This is my sister’s bead organizer. It’s a challenge for me to arrange all beads according to size, color, and style. But since there is no enough space for every type so I was challenge to look for an alternative container.

I found this empty plastic box as an option to organize the beads. The plastic container is actually the packaging of banaba tea.

The result…..

The plastic container can also be use as your accessories organizer. Actually, there are many ways to utilize the plastic container. Just be creative.

So the next time you throw scraps think twice, you might find a use for it.
