A to Z Easy Arts and Crafts Ideas
Whew!!! I have tons of ideas to be posted here. But I was caught up by Christmas rush. Maybe next Christmas I’ll be able to show crafts for Christmas season. Sigh…. that’s 365 days to go…
Anyway I’m here just to leave a message…
This project is an inspiration from Marissa Lynch Blog’s New Dress A Day. I religiously followed her blog since the day I discovered her blog through Yahoo. It’s amazing how she can turn an extra large dress into a great dress. And she never failed to impress me.
And now I have file of dresses in my cabinet that I collected for my dress redo projects. Certainly I won’t do it for 365 consecutive days like what she did. Because in the first place I do not know how to use a sewing machine. So sewing it by hand is quiet tedious and will took me a bit longer before finishing my project.
So, for my first project I decided to dye my old dress.
Bought this blouse three years ago.
But the colors turns yellowish. I thought that dying it would help my dress revive its beauty.
I look for Rit dye in the local market but I guess it’s only available in US. So I decided to use Venus Fast Dye instead. It’s only Php 3.00.
And tadaaaang!!! My dress turns into purple. Yay! Very Timely for the advent season…..Love it! Love it!
Uh-oh!!! it’s not a real flower it’s a carved melon.
How I wish I could also carve such a lovely flower. It was my sister’s boyfriend who did it!
Though I’m drooling when I saw it. (hey I love melon!), I think I would leave it standing on my table rather than eating it. Those cute carved flowers are irresistible. I can’t take my eyes away from it. Shhh!!! I’m studying how it was done. Hmmm…. simply because i want to try carving fruits….LOL….
While cleaning the cabinet in our library, I found this Christmas card I made during my first year in college, way back 1999. It’s made up of indigenous materials, such as shells, sinamay, dried flower and dried corn leaf. I added ribbons to enhance its beauty. I found it cute, that I opt of keeping instead of giving it. LOL…
Though colors fade already, I still adore it.
I’ve been eyeing this set of ladies accessories in the magazine about bead jewelries/accessories I bought a year ago. I just love its sophisticated design. I was looking in the craft store in our area and in the city for the bead rose but to my dismayed it’s not available.
So when I discovered polymer clay, first thing that crossed in my mind was to make a bead rose. With the help of video tutorial from youtube, I was able to make my own roses. Actually it’s easy but I have problem with conditioning the clay. I think it’s getting harder because it’s already expose. I’m using the Makin’s Air Dry Clay…. Anyway this is a sort of practice. Later when I will get this seriously, I mean into clay business, then I will use the polymer clay used by the professional clay artist.
my output
I haven’t started a clay project; I haven’t even touched clay with my bare hand. I’m afraid I won’t be able to maximize it and will just harden because the first set of clay I bought are air dry from Makin’s Clay.
I wanted to wait for my tools to at least be completed first before I start a project. But I couldn’t wait... seeing my stock of clays made my hand itchy. So I grabbed one packed of clay and cut its lid. Just imagine a child who wanted badly a new doll or a chocolate with the eyes gleaming and widely open… That’s how I reacted… with hard beat pounding in my chest… perhaps too excited to do my first project. LOL…
I hate its sour smell. Yet it did not thwart me from doing my first project… my imagination get wild…. But to my disappointment I found out that the clay was hard to condition. I was rolling, twisting, flatten the clay… Not satisfied with my output I did the same procedure for several times. And I honestly started to hate the clay. My hands are sweating and the more I had a hard time conditioning the clay.
I almost gave up yet I continued doing with my first project because I don’t want to waste my effort, time and of course the money. So I decided to make a very simple project instead… a very simple name tag… Simple yet I adore it…
First clay project
Since my sister, a pre-school teacher before, started teaching she always asked me to draw for her visual aids. You know in public schools there are no enough funds to use for the educational equipment. That’s why my sister used her resources to deliver a good and quality education without spending too much. And my talent to draw is one of her resources… ;-)
When she was transferred as in-charge of the reading clinic, my task to draw was lessen. Actually she stopped asking me to draw but it was her twin kids who persistently asked me to draw, one drawing after another until I got irritated. But I cannot resist their cute “please” and “last one please” (which actually not last… LOL)…. But I think it pays my effort. They learned and now draw better than me…
Totally I stopped sketching during the time when I was away from them and worked in a manufacturing company. I do not have time and cannot find any inspiration to draw. I was completely occupied with problems at worked... Too tired to do the things that I love to do…
Now that I am with them… the kids no longer asked me to draw… hmmm sometimes … when the subject is complicated.
But just recently my I heard again the familiar request of my sister… draw for their visual aids… something that really excites me… The project is actually to draw pics in larger scale. Okay I know there’s a copier that can do this. But as I said public schools don’t have enough funds. My sister is just lucky to have me… and I am lucky to have her… She revives my drawing skills…
The cutest blog on the block, had removed my background. They actually gave me notice prior to the removal but I just ignored it.
My blog after cutest blog on the block removed the background
I actually want to change the background a long time ago but editing is quiet tedious. Black background seems not eye-friendly. I read it from tututina’s blog that white-middled background is best especially if you’re gonna post pictures. Which is actually true… White is simple and clean… (hmmm… why I didn’t realized this when I started this blog?)
Meantime, I am using a background from hotbliggityblog.com.
P.S. I am also planning to change my title header… But ‘til now I cannot figure out what would it be.
Hi!!!
It’s been a while since my last post… and I’m a little guilty about it. LOL… Anyway, here’s just a little update of me and my crafting passion.
Last June I withdrew my online earnings from paypal because I badly needed the money. I also promised to myself about buying something worth remembering everytime I withdraw from my earnings.
I only withdraw $100, it’s about Php 4,500. Out from that amount I budgeted Php 1,000 - a gift for myself. You know it’s important to once in a while recognize our efforts and reward ourself. Buy things that could make you happy… lavish yourself with things that you love most…shop, drink, partying, eat, travel… or just a simple self appreciation will do. So guys, as you read this, pause for a while and pat yourself and say, “You did a great job…”
How did you feel right now? Happy? or naaaahhh!!!! LOL…
What I bought from my earnings is something that I really longed to have. I think you can easily guess it… yes, it’s for crafting…
I mentioned here many times about my interest in claying… yet until now I haven’t started a project. Tools are quiet expensive. siiigghh… Though I haven’t receive the money yet, I’ve been eyeing this letter stamp from claymatters. and as soon as I receive the money I immediately ordered the stamp and I can’t help my self ordering other metal findings and clays… As I said lavish yourself… LOL…
Here’s one of my favorites:
I even owned one when I won her contest. It’s so cute!!!
I’m spreading the rays of this Award to
Faye, BryanCute, Irene, and Yen,
Thanks Duni for sharing your goodness!!!!!
I was strolling one sunny morning in our backyard and found this cute bundle of red flowers. Truly Philippines, especially Davao, is so blessed with good climate that we’re able to enjoy the beauty of foliage all year round.
Verity, owner of Clay Corner, is selling her tools and other craft materials because she’s leaving the country for good. If I only have money then I would probably buy all the items. Some are used but I know her stuffs are properly kept and taken care of as what she said in her multiply account.
I bought her used clay extruder for Php 1, 150 and saved Php 150. The brand new prize of it is around Php 1,300.
I got the order today. And I’m so excited to use it. My clays are still intact in its plastic bags since I have no tools to shape it. I don’t want to waste a single gram of it because it’s quiet expensive. But I know since it’s my first time to do clay arts it’s expected that I will have scraps. Hopefully, I can still reuse the scraps…..
And hopefully I’ll have more than enough money so that I can still buy the sale items of verity.
P.S. Check her tools you may find it interesting for your crafting. Visit her multiply account.
It’s more than a month since my last post. I do not feel crafty this time because I have to prioritize my review for the teacher’s board exam this coming April18. Honestly I peeked on craft books or arts and crafts websites just to make me alive and kicking whenever I feel drowsy. But everytime I looked at the artworks my hands tingle and my mind wanders. LOL… Arts and crafts distract me but it keeps me perky when I feel like dying. LOL…
Meantime, I set a color of the month and post anything that is related to the theme. Just to make my blog, Colour, colorful. And since it is Heart Month then the color of the month is obviously RED…
Here’s my first entry, a red bag, a Christmas gift from my sister JEIA
